Two years ago, a young black man named Gemmel Moore overdosed at the home of prominent Democrat donor, Ed Buck. Now, another black man has been found dead at Buck’s home, and suspicions are starting to grow. The second man to perish at the Buck residence was recently identified as 55-year-old Timothy Dean. The death is currently under investigation, and according to reports, authorities will also be taking a second look at Moore’s death as well.
Buck is highly regarded in some circles, due to his lofty contributions to liberal causes. In addition to supporting Hillary Clinton, Buck is also a top figure in the LGBTQ+ political sphere. Unsurprisingly, it’s reported that he has friends in high places.
According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Buck was present when both men died.
Buck’s lawyer, Seymour Amster, has said that Buck is cooperating with police investigations. So far, the campaign contributor is maintaining his innocence in both cases.
“From what I know, it was an old friend who died of an accidental overdose, and unfortunately, we believe that the substance was ingested at some place other than the apartment,” Amster said.
“The person came over intoxicated,” he added.
Authorities are still “conducting a thorough investigation” of the cause of Timothy Dean’s death. If drugs were involved, things could start to look pretty grim for Buck, as it would be the second time a man overdosed in his home in less than two years.
Twenty-six-year-old Gemmel Moore died at the Buck home in July 2017.
In the wake of Dean’s demise, homicide investigators are now launching “follow-up interviews and a secondary review” of Moore’s death. Capt. Chris Bergner, from the sheriff’s homicide bureau, commented that his detectives will be “working very closely with the district attorney’s office” and will be “carefully examining all the evidence.”
More than 100 activists from the community held a rally to demand action from the sheriff’s department. Protesters are calling for the arrest of Ed Buck, and a reopening of the Moore case.
When the first victim, Moore, died in 2017, prosecutors declined to press charges against Buck. Moore overdosed on methamphetamine and was found in Buck’s home, on a mattress in the living room with a pile of drug paraphernalia.
According to the coroner’s report, Moore’s mother, LaTisha Nixon, told law enforcement officials that she believed Buck “may have harmed the decedent.” Journal entries written by Moore further allege that Ed Buck got him addicted to crystal meth.
Authorities ultimately determined the evidence against Buck was “insufficient.” PJ Media reports:
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated in a charge evaluation worksheet that the “admissible evidence is insufficient to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that suspect Buck furnished drugs to Gemmel Moore or that suspect Buck possessed drugs.”
Friends and relatives of Moore have questioned whether or not Buck’s political connections helped tip the scales of justice in his favor. It wouldn’t be the first time the Left protected their own.
In the wake of another tragedy at the Buck residence, another young black man has come forward about his own near-death experience with Ed Buck. Jermaine Gagnon believes that Ed Buck should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but remains unconvinced that Buck will ever face consequences for his crimes.
