It’s official: Professional sports in the United States have become the latest cultural triumph by the left, as the leagues are now nothing more than the latest ‘woke’ platforms with which to spew anti-American racism, bigotry and authoritarianism.
One of the requirements — yes, requirements — is that players and athletes are not permitted to show any support at all for our president, Donald Trump, though of course, bowing down to his predecessor, Barack Obama, the god king, was also a requirement.
The latest victim is a professional cyclist who has been booted from his team over his expression of support for the president, and in one of the most benign ways possible.
What’s more, the decision was quote-unquote, to achieve inclusiveness.
Cycling team Trek-Segafredo has suspended the 2019 junior road race world champion Quinn Simmons after he made comments in support of President Donald Trump on Twitter.
Simmons, a 19-year-old American, was replying to Dutch cycling journalist Jose Been. Been initially tweeted statements that were critical of Trump.
“My dear American friends, I hope this horrible presidency ends for you. And for us as (former?) allies too,” Been wrote, according to the Associated Press.”If you follow me and support Trump, you can go. There is zero excuse to follow or vote for the vile, horrible man.”
How’s that for tolerance from the ‘tolerant’ European?
In any event, Simmons responded to Been with the simple word “Bye,” accompanied by a black-skinned waving hand emoji.
Well, that didn’t sit well with the racing team.
“Trek-Segafredo is an organization that values inclusivity and supports a more diverse and equitable sport for all athletes,” the team said in a statement.
“While we support the right to free speech, we will hold people accountable for their words and actions. Regrettably, Simmons made statements online that we feel are divisive, incendiary, and detrimental to the team, professional cycling, its fans, and the positive future we hope to help create for the sport,” the team said in a statement posted to Twitter.

“In response, he will not be racing for Trek-Segafredo until further notice. The team and its partners will work together to determine how we will move forward and keep fans and the public informed as to the decisions made in the matter,” the statement continued.
Been, who deleted her initial tweet noted in response that she felt “horrible about the situation and terrible for @QuinnSimmons9 to miss his beloved classics. To suspend him would never be my choice.”
She then deleted her entire Twitter account, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Not content with suspending him, the racing team then got Simmons to fall on his sword — sort of — by apologizing. (Related: Millions of moral, patriotic Americans are turning off the NFL, NBA, Netflix and Hollywood.)
For the black hand emoji.
“To those who found the color of the emoji racist, I can promise that I did not mean for it to be interpreted that way. I would like to apologize to everyone who found this offensive as I strongly stand against racism in any form,” the 19-year-old said in a team statement.
“To anyone who disagrees with me politically, that is fine. I won’t hate you for it. I only ask the same,” he added, according to Cycling News.
“Quinn Simmons was not suspended because of his political views. He was suspended for engaging in conversation on Twitter in a way that we felt was conduct unbefiting a Trek athlete,” the team said, incredulously.
“We hold all Trek staff and management to a high ethical standard and our athletes are no exception,” Team Manager Luca Guercilena said. “We believe that Quinn has a bright future as a professional athlete if he can use this opportunity to grow as a person and make a positive contribution for a better future for cycling. We remain committed to helping Quinn as much as we can.”
‘Grow as a person’ is code for ‘do not engage in any behavior we don’t approve of,’ which, unquestionably, includes public support for the president: Political persecution at its finest, compliments of another professional American sport.
